Blissfully Bookish, an e-commerce website dedicated to unique fandom clothing and accessories.
The Challenge
This client was limited with the design capabilities within their Shopify platform, and wanted to fully own their store and website files. They needed to migrate 29k orders and 500+ products into a new platform that would scale with their growing business while providing flexibility to use a custom, not templated, website design.
Our Approach
We created a completely unique website design to match their whimsical fantasy-based brand style. Blissfully Bookish brand elements are seen throughout the website pages, including the custom designed checkout process, product pages, interior pages, and blog. To draw more focus on the products, the traditional white background was replaced with brand colors, giving a playful upgrade to the product and product category pages. The search feature was enhanced to allow customers to find products using tags and keywords, not just the product title and description, allowing the store manager to tag products with commonly misspelled search terms.
On the backend, custom components were built into the WordPress website with WooCommerce as the store platform. These components allowed the store manager to apply their sizing charts, shipping timelines, and fabric care instructions to products from a component library, without having to re-type this information each time.
The Results
The new website’s design is anything but “standard” or “templated”. The overall look is cohesive with Blissfully Bookish’s social media artwork and brand style. Visual elements within the background tie it all together, while larger product photos draw focus to the most important part of the business; its creative offering of unique apparel. For store managers, updating product information is faster thanks to the components and past data can be viewed through the store dashboard.
